The Day’s Agenda
You will begin your outing by visiting the city of Orange with its antique heritage.
You will visit two important testaments of the Roman era, on the Unesco world heritage list: the Arc de Triomphe, symbol of the glory of imperialism and the Antique Theater, dating from the 1st century A.D., the best preserved in Europe (ticket and audio-guide included).
Then you will set off toward the vineyards of Châteauneuf du Pape, "area with 13 grape varieties".
A panoramic tour of the vineyards is proposed, toward Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
In 2 different wine domaines, the notion of "terroir" will be evoked, the various grape varieties, the wine-making process, and aging.
The pleasure of tasting will be there with a tasting of these great Provençal wines (included in the price).
The afternoon
The outing continues at the famous site of the Pont du Gard.
On the Unesco World Heritage List, it is the best preserved section of the Roman aqueduct which brought drinking water to the city of Nîmes.
Then you will continue toward les Baux de Provence.
This charming medieval village, in the heart of the Alpilles Natural Regional Park, is built on a 245 m high rocky spur.
And finally, you will make a last stop in the village of Gordes.
Known for its dry stone architecture, this perched village will offer you a panorama which will take your breath away. It is classified as one of the most beautiful villages of France.
You will end your outing in the village of Roussillon.
This ravishing village is famous for its ocher cliffs, which will offer you an unusual spectacle. The houses take on unique colors, amazing and multicolored depending on their exposure to the sun.
Free time will permit you to enjoy each one of these sites and to have lunch (not included, organization optional).
