You will be amazed by the historical sites with an international reputation like the Château of Les Baux de Provence or the Pont du Gard.
You will meander through this unique territory, visiting the principal Provençal villages, classified among the most beautiful villages of Provence (Gordes, Roussillon…).
Over the course of a day in an air-conditioned minibus, you will cross the most beautiful sites of Provence.
These not-to-be-missed villages will permit you to immortalize in pictures and souvenirs the most beautiful places of this Provençal land.
The Day’s Agenda
You will start the outing at the famous site of the Pont du Gard.
On the UNESCO World Heritage List, it is the best-preserved section of the Roman aqueduct which brought drinking water to the city of Nîmes.
You will continue toward Les Baux de Provence.
In the heart of the Alpilles Natural Regional Park, you will have some free time to discover this charming village built on a 245 m-high rocky spur. A pedestrian-only historical center will take you toward beautiful medieval vestiges.
Then toward the Antiquities of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence for a photo stop before the sublime Arc de Triomphe and the Mausoleum, dating from the 1st century BC. Both located in the heart of landscapes painted by Van Gogh.
Then, you will continue your journey toward Roussillon, famous for its ocher cliffs, which will offer you an unusual spectacle.
And toward Gordes, a perched village known for its architecture of dry stones.
A breathtaking landscape will greet you.
When the lavender is in flower (from June 15 to July 15 only), you will be able to photograph one of the most beautiful postcards of the region: the Abbey of Sénanque.
This abbey is a masterpiece of primitive Cistercian architecture.
And finally, to end the day: visit of the Lavender Museum.
(Except in January when it’s closed) you can discover the symbol of Provence: lavender, thanks to a museum totally dedicated to it.
During the harvest (July and August), you will see a demonstration of distillation.
Free time will permit you to enjoy each one of these sites and to have lunch (not included, organization optional).
Some days, you can linger between the stands in a Provençal market, in Gordes on Tuesday, in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence on Wednesday, in Roussillon on Thursday, and on Sunday at L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue (world-renowned town for its antique dealers, its canals, and its typically Provençal streets).
The order of visits can be modified accordingly.
