The Luberon Natural Park is a true paradise for hikers, seasoned or not . The variety in its landscapes attracts many hikers each year.
We suggest today that you discover Aigue Brun, an enclosed valley at the foot of the mythic Buoux cliffs, know by climbers the world over.
The hike starts in the village of Buoux, you walk the southern border of the plateau where you observe the impressive 100-meter high cliffs which overlook the valley.
The first stage of the hike will offer you an incredible view of the farm of Seguins and the Fort of Buoux, perched on a rocky spur, the mountains of the Luberon in the background.
The hike continues on a chemin de calade, in Provence this is how we refer to a road paved with stones from the Rhone or the Durance.
You can observe the ruins of troglodyte habitations found along the road, remnants from another age, last witnesses of the life of the first inhabitants of the valley.
The hike continues then toward the small village “at the end of the earth” of Silvergues, perched above the valley, this little village, cut off from the world, still partially inhabited and nicely restored will offer a beautiful view of the Luberon range.
Then you will go through SEGUINS, an old restored hamlet now an inn, in the bottom of the valley of the Aiguebrun and at the foot of superb 100 m high cliffs.
During this hike in Provence you will see a unique site with beautiful landscapes.
We will then bring you to visit the Fort de Buoux, remnant of an old medieval fortress with an impressive architectural richness, built on a rocky spur 60 meters above the valley.
The hike will end when back at the village of Buoux. You will have then walked 14 kms.
However, no worries, this hike is globally easy only a few passages which are a bit steep and have stones which may impair progression slightly. This hike is thus for hiker of all levels and all ages. Children from the age of 8 are welcome.
