A travel notebook is offered to go on an excursion in the heart of the city of Avignon!
We drive you to the best known cultural sites: the spectacular Palace of the Popes and the Saint Bénezet bridge, commonly known as the "Pont d'Avignon".
Then we suggest unusual sites in the city, to visit at your rhythm (beautiful small streets to photograph, shops, gardens, museums, etc.)
9 : 00 a.m. : Visit of the Palace of the Popes :
Recognized as the largest Gothic palace of Europe, the PALACE of the POPES was the residence of the popes in the 14th century.
Classified as world heritage by UNESCO, it was built starting in 1335, it is the work of two principal builders (Benedict XII and his successor Clement VI).
Magnificent frescoes by the Italian artist Mateo Giovannetti decorate the monument.

10 :30 visit of the « Pont d’Avignon » :
Built starting in the 12th century and also classified as world heritage by UNESCO, the Avignon bridge is known the world over thanks to its famous song. « Sur le pont d'Avignon, on y danse on y danse, sur le pont d'Avignon on y danse tous en rond... Barely 2.5 m wide, it used to rest on 22 arches and carried people from the city to the island of the Barthelasse which had many "guinguettes".
Carried away several times by the flooding of the Rhone, it was finally abandoned in the 17th century and only four arches remain.

During your promenade you will discover the ramparts of Avignon which represent an exceptional monument, beautiful old Medieval small streets as well as many churches and chapels.
Suggestions of museums, nice stores and gardens to visit will be made to you.
A travel notebook will be given to you to indicate where and when to meet. Duration 5 h (from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.)
