The painter Vincent Van Gogh was born on March 1853 in the Netherlands.
His paintings in Provence were inspired by the naturalism and impressionism.
Over the course of his life, the famous painter Vincent Van Gogh realized more than 2000 works, including 1100 drawings and 900 paintings
During this escapade, you will set out to discover the famous small city of the Alpilles: . Saint Rémy de Provence.
Vincent Van Gogh lived there from 1889 to 1890.
The landscapes of the Alpilles were very dear to Vincent Van Gogh. He did many paintings such as The Irises, Starry Night, Lilacs of the garden of the hospital… as well as his hospital room in the cloister of Saint Paul where he spent several months.
You will then continue your day by discovering the remarkable village of the Baux-de-Provence.
Perched on a 245-meter rocky spur, this spectacular village perfectly illustrates the Provencal art of living. This village is registered as Notable Site of Taste & Most Beautiful Villages of France.
You will be given some free time in order to visit its historic pedestrian center, to linger in its narrow streets and to discover the small squares, the shaded terraces...
You will also admire the beautiful views of the Alpilles range from this perched village. You can enjoy this free time to discover its castle, the Santon museum, the Hotel des Porcelets or the church of Saint-Vincent.
A not-to-be-missed stop in Provence.
The artist stayed in Arles for about one year, between 1889 and 1890. Vincent Van Gogh made approximately 300 drawings and paintings during his stay.
During your visit you will find a dozen emblematic places such as the Pont de Trinquetaille, the quais du Rhône, the place Lamartine (the painting The Yellow House), the place du forum (The Cafe at Night), La Rue Mireille (painting The Old Mill), the garden of the Boulevard des Lices (public garden), the arena, the Alyscamps…etc
