Roman sites and places full of history

During half a day in an air-conditioned minibus

We propose you a departure from Avignon, an ancestral immersion through Nîmes, rich in its Gallo-Roman past, Uzès, first Duchy of France and the famous site of the Pont du Gard!

You will start with a promenade in the city of Nimes

You will discover its ancient monuments such as:

-          The Augustus gate which was, in Roman times, the main entrance to the city and the starting point of the Via Domitia. It is now the only vestige remaining of the Roman city walls.

-          The Roman amphitheater

Dating from the end of the 1st century A.D, during the great invasions, served as a fortified village for the inhabitants. In the Middle-Ages it was a place for living.

An audio-guide will be offered to you.

(The building is closed during shows. This visit will then be replaced by a visit of the Maison Carrée where a 3D video will recount for you the story of the heroes of the city)

-          The Maison Carrée.

Dedicated to the grandsons of Augustus during its construction in the 1^st century A.D., this temple is one of the best preserved of the Roman era.

You will then go to Uzes, a city anchored in history:

Uzès is a medieval city par excellent, where the first Duchess of France was installed.

You will set out to discover this era through its heritage which will testify to the rich past of the city. the « place aux herbes », the Bishop’s Palace, the Duché castle or the cathedral with its Fenestrelle tower.

And you will finish in beauty with a stop at the Pont du Gard :

On the Unesco Registered World Heritage List, it is the best preserved section of the Roman aqueduct which brought drinking water to the city of Nîmes.

A roadbook will be given to you to indicate where and when to meet.

Rate for adults: €70/person.

Children’s rate: €35/children under 12 years old & free for children under 4 years old.

Organization of lunch : at a restaurant or with a picnic basket.
