With its area of approximately 759 km², it is seven times larger than Paris.
Called « The little Rome », this beautiful city of the Camargue with an exceptional Roman heritage knows how to blend its traditions with the modern era.
We invite you to discover its ambiance with the large terraces of the Provencal cafes and the mansions on the Avenue des Lices.
We also suggest that you wander randomly in the small streets in the center of town to discover the Roman monuments of Arles.
Remarkable monuments, built by Cesar during Antiquity, are found there, notably the Amphitheater of Arles, the Public Baths of Constantine and the St. Trophine cloister.
These monuments, classified as world heritage of Humanity since 1981 will no longer be a mystery to you.
We suggest for one day :
10:00 a.m. : Visit of an exceptional Abbey
Founded prior to the end of the first millennium, the Abbey only became fortified during the One Hundred Years War at the end of the Middle Ages, when bands of pillagers ransacked the entire region. The church, found inside, has remained in good condition possessed of architecture unique to Provence, a legacy of the Gallo-Romans. The dungeon, despite its 125 steps, is worth climbing, because, once you’ve reached the top, you will receive your reward: an unobstructed view of the surrounding countryside and of the remainder of the Abbey.
A very interesting monument with easy access and a large parking lot.
