You will crisscross the cobblestones of the city, encountering its remains, the results of a life full of history, giving a unique atmosphere to the city.

-          2 not-to-be-missed monuments on the UNESCO world heritage list: The Palace of the Popes and the Saint Bénezet bridge, known as the “pont d’Avignon” known over the world thanks to the song.

-           Ramparts, representing an exceptional monumental grouping.

-          Dozens of churches and chapels.

9 : 00 a.m : Visit of the Palace of the Popes :

The largest Gothic palace of Europe, the Palace of the Popes, residence of the popes in the 14th century. Classified as world heritage by UNESCO, it was built starting in 1335, it is the work of two principal builders (Benedict XII and his successor Clement VI).  Magnificent frescoes by the Italian artist Matteo Giovannetti decorate the monument.

10 :30 visit of the « Pont d’Avignon » :

This bridge is classified as world heritage by UNESCO. It is known the world over thanks to its famous song : « Sur le pont d’Avignon, on y danse on y danse, sur le pont d’Avignon on y danse tous en rond... »

It was built commencing in 12th century. Carried away several times by the flooding of the Rhone, it was finally abandoned in the 17^th century. Only four arches of the 22 originally built remain.
